Snorkeling Galapagos

Snorkeling in the Galapagos is one of the highlights of a cruise around the islands, from swimming with sea lions ,and sea turtles to seeing the amazing underwater marine life in the Galapagos ,due to the unique biodiversity of marine species, the Galapagos islands waters are a protected marine reserve since 1998 and included in UNESCO’s world heritage list in 2001.

The Galapagos underwater landscape is different from island to island depending on the volcanic formation as well as the water temperature, which changes depending on the location of the island ,this climate change allows all the marine life as well as species that feed from the ocean to survive , the Galapagos is probably the only place in the world where you can easily swim with penguins , flightless cormorants , marine iguanas on maybe while you are snorkeling you can spot sea birds such as blue footed boobies or pelicans as they dive into the water to catch a fish.

Most yachts and cruises in Galapagos will provide you with snorkeling gear ,some of them free and others at an extra charge , not all boats will provide wet suits so if you want to stay longer in the water we recommend to bring your own wetsuit , a shorty should be enough and is also a good way to protect your skin from the strong Galapagos islands sun.
